Once upon a time, there was a land with no storybooks. Not even this one. So starts a tale about living in a place with no written communication. Our heroine, Minky Binka, discovers a strange shape and learns from an encyclopedia--not a book, but a human encyclopedia---that it is a letter of the alphabet. If she can find enough of these, she can make something called a story.
Beautifully illustrated tale for under-sevens demonstrates the importance of reading the nicest way possible---by luring children into a dreamy story. Gorgeous pictures by Sam Jam's long-term collaborator, Eamonn O'Boyle.
